What materials are used for D. James Hats?

We take pride in using only the finest quality materials. We source premium beaver, beaver/rabbit blend, rabbit, and nutria (coypu) hat bodies. Hats are detailed with sheepskin sweatbands and custom satin liners.

How do I find my hat size?

During your custom consultation, we will professionally measure your head size and shape to provide the best fit.

If you aren’t able to visit us in person, we’ll ask you to find your size by following our measuring guide.

Do you do online custom consultations?

We’re happy to work with you to customize a hat- wherever you are! Get in touch with us, and we’ll set up a remote consultation, and ship your hat for a small fee.

Do you sell Ready to Wear hats?

When inspiration strikes (and time allows) we have Ready to Wear hats available. Follow us on Instagram for RTW drops.

What if my hat gets damaged or misshapen?

D. James hats are made to last. If your hat is damaged or misshapen, stop by the shop. Most basic wear can be easily remedied. Major damage or redesign may require a fee.

What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is incredibly important to us. We will work with you to ensure your custom hat meets your expectations and are happy to tweak sizing and design elements. However, custom hats are made to your specifications, and are not refundable.

What does a custom hat cost?

We primarily work with beaver felts, with a base price of $1200. Based on availability, we do work with beaver blends, starting at $1000, and hare felts, starting at $750.

A nonrefundable $500 deposit is taken when your order is placed.
